ABOUT US

Urban Ministry Center

The Urban Ministry Center is an interfaith organization dedicated to bringing the community together to end homelessness, one life at a time.

With the sentiment of love thy neighbor, the Urban Ministry Center serves 500-600 of our homeless neighbors each day on our campus. They come to relieve their hunger in our Soup Kitchen, enjoy art or other community programs, to get treatment for addictions, to connect with our housing programs—to eventually take steps out of homelessness.  An army of 10,000 regular, seasonal and one-time volunteers make what we do possible. They are the heart and hands behind everything we do.

CommunityWorks 945

CommunityWorks 945  strives to deepen relationships with our neighbors and provide hope and tangible assistance by engaging them through positive life-affirming activities.

CommunityWorks 945 uses art, athletics, gardening, and music as a springboard to foster motivation and develop life skills.  CommunityWorks 945 staff provides positive programming and also serve as case managers who assist participants with employment, housing, and health goals. Foundational to the programming is the belief that all people, regardless of their housing status, have talents to be celebrated and shared.

RunningWorks

RunningWorks is a non-profit running program founded to encourage the homeless community to rediscover the power of teamwork, discipline, confidence and respect for each other, one stride at a time.

After each run, volunteers conduct skill-building workshops focusing on: self-esteem, boundaries, playing with heart, showing up, discipline, respect for yourself and others, handling setbacks, unconditional love, interview skills or assertion versus aggression.
